Two coal trains disrupt rail service in South Sumatra

Two coal trains had an operational problem early Thursday at Talangbaru station in Ogan Komering Ulu, South Sumatra.

The trains, numbered 4045 and 4136, were involved at about 2:36 a.m.

local time.

Accounts say the trains left the track, and some carriages overturned, though KAI described the incident as an operational problem.

The track was temporarily closed, disrupting rail operations in the area, including the Prabumulih–Baturaja route.

KAI staff are inspecting the trains and damaged track to make sure it is safe before rail services resume.

No reopening time has been confirmed, and KAI has not yet detailed the effects on tickets or individual train services.

Passengers are being asked to follow staff instructions and check KAI121's official channels for updates.
