Tadhg Furlong cleared over allegation of groin grab

Ireland prop Tadhg Furlong was cleared of an allegation that he grabbed Munster player Gavin Coombes in the groin.

The incident happened during Leinster’s 24-18 win over Munster at Aviva Stadium in the United Rugby Championship.

Coombes raised the allegation with referee Andrew Brace, but the television match official found no conclusive video evidence.

Furlong was later cited under a rugby rule against actions that violate good sportsmanship, including grabbing a player’s genitals.

A disciplinary panel unanimously dismissed the complaint, finding that Furlong had not committed foul play.

The panel also said Coombes had given an honest account of what he remembered.

Furlong is available for Ireland’s upcoming matches against Argentina, Fiji and South Africa, and for the Nations Championship finals weekend at Twickenham.
