Rafael Camara to make Formula 1 debut with Haas in 2027

Haas has signed Brazilian driver Rafael Camara to make his Formula 1 debut with the team in 2027.

The 21-year-old currently leads the Formula 2 championship and has won the Formula 3 and Formula Regional European titles.

Camara will replace Esteban Ocon, who is leaving Haas at the end of 2026 after two seasons.

Camara is part of Ferrari’s driver academy, as is Oliver Bearman, who is expected to be his team-mate; Haas has not yet confirmed Bearman’s 2027 seat.

The team was impressed by Camara’s speed and performance in a test at Portugal’s Portimao track.

His promotion puts a leading junior driver on the F1 grid and gives him a chance to show how his results translate to racing at the highest level.

Camara will prepare for his first F1 season in 2027 under a multi-year contract with Haas.
