Jakarta Job Fair Offers More Than 12,000 Vacancies

Jakarta's provincial government held a job fair with more than 12,000 vacancies at the SMESCO building.

Suci, 24, said she had been unemployed since finishing vocational school in 2020 and had lost millions of rupiah to two fake job offers.

Noven, 39, has struggled to find formal work since his photocopy business closed, and said employers' age requirements have made it difficult.

Deaf job seekers Raka and Faiz said they had applied to many companies but received few or no responses.

Some applicants with disabilities said employers had ruled them out despite their skills, raising concerns about access to suitable work.

The job seekers want employers to judge them by their abilities, but no further steps were described.

It all depends on ability. I hope HR departments will assess and see our abilities first. If we have the skills, give us a chance. Work should be judged by real competence.
