Officials review voter-roll checks in Visakhapatnam and ASR

Officials reviewed the ongoing voter-roll revision in Visakhapatnam and Alluri Sitharama Raju districts in Andhra Pradesh.

In Visakhapatnam, Roll Observer S. Bhargavi told officials to check rejected applications and doubtful cases in the field where needed.

She said every voter deletion must have a clear reason and records must match field information.

Officials were asked to scrutinise areas with many additions or deletions and check mismatches in voters’ door numbers.

In Alluri Sitharama Raju, 4,088 notices were issued, and 133 people were found ineligible among 385 cases checked.

Officials said eligible voters must not be removed by mistake; people left off the roll can apply using Form-6 and may be added after verification.

Booth-level officers were to conduct door-to-door checks where needed, and the district’s final roll was scheduled for publication on October 16.
