Ramya Haridas’s personal assistant resigns amid reported disagreements

V. Vimal has resigned as personal assistant to MLA Ramya Haridas in Chirayinkeezhu, Kerala.

Vimal, a local government department employee working on deputation, submitted his resignation to the Assembly secretary and is due to return to his department.

His resignation letter gave personal reasons, but reports say disagreements with Haridas also played a part.

The tensions come after a dispute over a proposed personal-staff appointment that reportedly ended in a physical altercation.

A four-member Congress committee was appointed to address local party problems, but reports say Haridas has not yet responded to its requests to meet.

The resignation adds to reported divisions within the Congress in Chirayinkeezhu, and the committee is still seeking her response.
