Alcaraz beats Medvedev to reach Vienna Open final

Carlos Alcaraz beat Daniil Medvedev in Vienna to reach the final of the ATP 500 tournament.

The Spanish player won 6-4, 7-6(2) in one hour and 36 minutes.

It was his fifth final of the season and his seventh win in 10 matches against the Russian.

Medvedev had arrived after winning in Almaty and had the most hard-court wins of any player this season, with 41.

Alcaraz had missed four months of the season with a right wrist injury, and the Vienna final gives him a chance to win just his second professional title indoors.

The result also extended his run of consecutive wins at ATP 500 events to 25, dating back to the Barcelona tournament in 2025.

He will play Alexander Zverev or Alex de Miñaur on Sunday; the other semifinal decides his opponent.
