McDonald’s Japan launches three chicken burgers after five years of development

On October 21, McDonald’s Japan added three chicken burgers to its regular menu alongside a new chicken side.

The burgers come in original, spicy and teriyaki versions, and use a whole piece of chicken thigh.

The company says it spent five years developing the chicken patty, working to balance juicy meat with a crunchy coating.

The new range is meant to give customers a filling alternative to beef burgers and more chicken options.

McDonald’s hopes the burgers will become signature items like the Big Mac and Double Cheeseburger.

From 5 p.m., customers can also order versions with double patties, and the company will see whether the new range becomes a lasting favourite.
