Marvel’s Wolverine sells 2.4 million copies in its first seven weeks
Sony says Marvel’s Wolverine sold 2.4 million copies by November 4, about seven weeks after its release.
The superhero action game is a PS5 exclusive, made by Insomniac Games.
Sony reported that PlayStation had 127 million monthly active users in September, a record, while time spent playing also rose.
The sales figure is lower than some of Sony’s other games reached much faster: Spider-Man 2 sold 2.5 million copies on its first day, and Ghost of Yōtei sold 3.3 million in 32 days.
That comparison has led to questions about Wolverine’s comparatively slow start, though Sony also described the game as a contributor to PlayStation’s recent performance.
The game’s budget has not been officially disclosed, so its profitability cannot be determined from sales alone.
The holiday sales period could lift its total, but the sources do not give a forecast.
