Gimhae expands support for children of ethnic Korean families

The city of Gimhae in South Korea is expanding support for children of ethnic Korean families to help them adjust to school and local life.

The program has a total budget of 60 million won, with half from national funding and half from the city.

It will offer Korean, computer and English lessons, cultural education and sports at three education facilities.

Classes will run for four months in each of the two school semesters.

Students will also be able to get ongoing emotional support and advice about careers and further study.

The city plans to expand career coaching next year so students can explore their strengths and prepare for the future.

Gimhae is home to 3,196 children from these families, and the city says it will continue supporting their growth in the community.
