Arkhangelsk neurosurgeon sentenced over patient’s death after surgery
A court in Arkhangelsk found neurosurgeon Vladislav Ivanov guilty over a patient’s death during surgery.
On 28 May 2025, the patient underwent a planned operation to remove a herniated disc at a regional hospital.
The court said a failure in medical care led to her death that day.
Ivanov denied guilt and argued that a rare complication caused the death, but the court said the evidence linked his actions to the outcome.
He was sentenced to two years of restricted freedom and barred from performing operations for one year.
The sentence is not yet legally in force, and the sources do not say what happens next.
