Atlético Madrid beat Manchester United 2-0 in Champions League

Atlético Madrid beat Manchester United 2-0 in a Champions League match in Madrid on Tuesday.

Pablo Barrios scored after 50 seconds, giving Atlético an early lead.

United pushed for an equaliser, but a goal by Johnny Cardoso was ruled out for handball and Bruno Fernandes hit the crossbar.

Leny Yoro was sent off in the 74th minute after a video review judged he had fouled Jonathan David as the last defender.

Ademola Lookman scored five minutes later, sealing Atlético’s win against a 10-player United side.

The defeat extended United’s winless run to five matches and increased questions about manager Michael Carrick’s future.

United next travel to face rivals Leeds, while defender Lisandro Martínez also criticised the club’s summer transfer business.
