Western-Style Diet Linked to Faster Attention Decline in Some Older Adults

Researchers followed 185 older adults for more than seven years.

People with the APOE ε4 gene who ate more foods such as processed meat, pizza and sweets tended to lose attention skills faster.

This link was not found in people without the gene.

The study cannot show that the foods caused the change, but it suggests diet and genes may affect brain aging together.
