Saskatoon’s Friendship Inn prepares for rising demand over Thanksgiving
The Friendship Inn in Saskatoon is preparing to serve its annual Thanksgiving turkey dinner.
It served 55,000 meals in September, its third straight month serving more than 50,000.
CEO Sandra Kary said the organization expects to serve more than 2,500 meals over Thanksgiving, which would exceed last year’s total of close to 2,500.
She said demand has grown as the city expands and living costs rise.
People on fixed incomes may have less money for food when other costs increase.
The Inn is preparing food ahead of the holiday and has volunteers and supplies ready.
