Erdoğan and Trump discuss regional tensions and bilateral ties

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan spoke by phone with U.S. President Donald Trump about relations between their countries and international issues.

They discussed developments around the Strait of Hormuz and in Yemen, where Erdoğan said Türkiye was pursuing diplomatic solutions.

Erdoğan also called for renewed diplomacy between Russia and Ukraine and said Türkiye was ready to support efforts to end the war through talks.

The call comes as Türkiye and the United States approach the 100th anniversary of their relations next year, and Erdoğan said he would keep working to deepen cooperation.

Trump congratulated Erdoğan and the Turkish people on Republic Day and wished success for the Organization of Turkic States summit.

Türkiye said it would continue its diplomatic efforts on the regional issues discussed.
