Montichiari airport opens new logistics warehouse mainly for Amazon
Montichiari airport in northern Italy has opened a new cargo warehouse to expand its freight capacity.
The 4,300-square-metre facility is intended mainly for Amazon, supporting air cargo and parcel sorting.
Amazon has operated at the airport since September, with four daily flights six days a week linking Montichiari to its air logistics hubs in Europe.
The airport already handles operations for Poste Italiane, DHL and non-European cargo flights, with warehouses covering 20,000 square metres in total.
Save, which controls the airport, invested €10 million in the new building as part of its development plan.
The project aims to match growing cargo volumes with more airport infrastructure, and local officials say it gives the airport a stronger growth outlook.
