CXMT plans first 4F² DDR5 server memory by end of 2026
Chinese memory maker CXMT plans a new DDR5 module for servers by the end of 2026.
Company president Cao Kanyu outlined the plan at an industry conference.
The module will use a 4F² design that packs memory cells more tightly than the mainstream 6F² layout.
Its vertical transistor design is intended to reduce each cell’s footprint by about one-third on paper.
CXMT has not announced the module’s speed or capacity, and the technology has not yet been commercialized.
The launch would extend CXMT’s push into server memory, where customers need equipment designed for reliable, continuous operation.
CXMT plans to launch its first 4F² DRAM product, a DDR5 registered memory module for servers, by the end of 2026.
Company president Cao Kanyu presented the technology at an industry conference on October 10.
The 4F² architecture uses vertical transistors and is designed to increase storage density compared with the mainstream 6F² layout.
CXMT has not announced the planned module’s speeds or capacities.
The architecture has been the subject of CXMT research and patent filings.
