BCCI to hold trials for Arunachal Pradesh teams after match forfeitures

The BCCI will organise trials for Arunachal Pradesh cricket teams to help the state take part in this season’s domestic competitions.

The trials will cover men’s and women’s teams, from age-group sides to senior squads.

An independent panel of three former Assam players will select the teams, with BCCI Apex Council member Khairul Majumdar as convener.

Arunachal Pradesh forfeited its opening Ranji Trophy match against Nagaland and also failed to field teams in two other competitions.

A legal dispute between two factions of the Arunachal Cricket Association is pending before the Guwahati High Court’s Itanagar Bench.

The BCCI says the independent process is meant to protect players and prevent local interference in selections.

Support staff are expected to be appointed by Wednesday, giving the teams time to prepare for their campaigns.
