PNG Chiefs unveil logo ahead of 2028 NRL debut

The PNG Chiefs unveiled their first club logo and supporters' jersey as they prepare to enter the National Rugby League.

The team is based in Papua New Guinea and will begin playing in the NRL in 2028.

A team of graphic artists in Papua New Guinea designed the logo to represent the country and the club's identity.

Its imagery includes ceremonial feathers, a cassowary bone, a chief's face and kina shells, each linked to elements of Papua New Guinea's culture and traditions.

Club chief executive Lorna McPherson called the unveiling a major milestone in establishing the team.

The club says the jersey represents belonging and unity, as well as the chance to represent Papua New Guineans nationally.

The Chiefs are due to join the NRL in 2028, with the club saying it wants to create opportunities and a lasting legacy for the country.
