MLW, NJPW and CMLL plan a project for 2027

MLW, NJPW and CMLL plan a project for 2027

At MLW Saturday Night SuperFight in Cicero, Illinois, MLW founder Court Bauer announced a project with NJPW and CMLL.

Bauer said the three wrestling promotions are working together on something planned for 2027.

New Japan Pro-Wrestling chairman Naoki Sugabayashi was at the event, where IWGP Heavyweight Champion Yota Tsuji made his MLW debut against Trevor Lee.

The project’s details have not been revealed, and Bauer described it as a big surprise.

MLW has long-running partnerships with NJPW and CMLL, including wrestlers appearing on one another’s shows.

The collaboration builds on those existing ties, but its format and scope are not yet known.

NJPW has also announced the closure of its Los Angeles dojo and the shutdown of New Japan Pro-Wrestling of America, though no connection to the project has been stated.

More information is expected to come later, with the project planned for 2027.
