Lidl face cream tops moisturizer test despite low price

A Swiss consumer test compared 10 popular day creams for how well they moisturize skin and whether they contain allergy-triggering substances.

The test was carried out as colder weather and dry indoor air can leave skin dry.

Lidl’s Cien cream ranked first, increasing skin moisture by 42 percent.

It costs about two Swiss francs, making it the cheapest cream tested.

The most expensive cream, Weleda Sensitiv Light, came second-last and increased moisture by 12 percent.

The low-cost cream performed best, but testers deducted points because it contains substances that may cause allergies.

The test shows that a higher price did not mean better moisturizing in this comparison.
