Carlos Slim sells more than $1.15 billion in PBF and Talos shares
Mexican businessman Carlos Slim sold shares in two US oil companies during 2026: PBF Energy, which refines oil, and Talos Energy, which explores for and produces hydrocarbons.
He raised more than $1.15 billion from the sales, including about $820 million from PBF and $252 million from Talos in October.
The timing coincided with rising oil prices amid tensions involving Iran, which helped lift the companies’ share prices.
PBF shares rose more than 170% to a record high in October, while Talos shares reached their highest level in more than three years.
Slim’s holdings in both companies have fallen by about half, but his remaining shares are worth about $1.4 billion, roughly the same as at the start of the year.
The sales were made through the Slim family’s investment company, Control Empresarial de Capitales; the sources do not describe any further planned sales.
