Trial over fatal Tarwekamp explosion begins in The Hague
A court case over the Tarwekamp explosion begins in The Hague on Wednesday.
The blast killed six people and caused part of an apartment building in the Mariahoeve neighbourhood to collapse on December 7, 2024.
Four people are accused of responsibility, including Moshtag B., who prosecutors say ordered the attack.
Prosecutors believe he wanted revenge on his former girlfriend, who owned a bridal shop in the building; B. says the explosion was another person’s idea and says he deeply regrets it.
Residents are still rebuilding their lives, and some have not returned to their homes or do not want to go back.
Some people face the cost of both a mortgage on a damaged home and rent for replacement housing.
