Amper and Hyperion discuss buying Spanish radar maker ART
Amper and Hyperion are discussing a purchase of Spanish radar maker ART for €40 million, with up to €5 million more tied to targets.
Amper said no binding agreement has been signed and it plans to seek board approval this month before making a formal announcement.
ART was founded in 2010 as a spin-off from a research group at the Polytechnic University of Madrid.
It makes radar, sensors and software for uses including defence, security, border monitoring and detecting drones.
The deal would add ART’s own technology to Amper’s portfolio as the group shifts towards defence and technology with both civilian and military uses.
If completed, it would be Amper’s fourth acquisition in eight months, and the company expects it to complete its planned acquisition phase.
Amper says it will still consider occasional opportunities but does not expect major acquisitions in the short term.
Amper and investment fund Hyperion are in talks to buy Spanish radar maker Advanced Radar Technologies (ART).
Amper said there is no binding agreement and that it plans to submit the proposal to its board for approval in October.
Market sources cited by El Confidencial put the price at €40 million, plus up to €5 million tied to targets.
ART develops radar, sensor and software systems for defence, security and critical infrastructure.
