Czechs vote in Senate and local elections, testing Babiš’s government

Czechs are choosing some senators and local representatives.

The vote is the first election test for Prime Minister Andrej Babiš since his party won power in 2025.

His movement wants to gain seats in a Senate controlled by opposition parties.

The Senate helps decide constitutional changes and who becomes a Constitutional Court judge.
