Spanish carmaker Liux nears deal with investor to expand production

Spanish carmaker Liux is close to bringing in a new investor to help fund its growth.

The company is preparing to build its small electric car, the Big, at a new factory in Azuqueca de Henares, Spain.

The investor is expected to take a significant share, but Liux’s founders will remain in control.

The factory is currently starting production with capacity for 5,000 cars a year, and is designed to reach 15,000 to 20,000 cars annually.

Liux expects the first Big cars to reach customers in the second half of 2027, with mass production planned to begin early that year.

The company plans to sell first in Spain, Italy and France, and the investor is intended to support its expansion and financing.
