Beppe Angiolini, founder of Sugar and influential fashion buyer, dies at 73

Beppe Angiolini, a leading Italian fashion buyer, has died at 73 in his home in Arezzo.

He had been ill for some time and would have turned 74 on December 5.

He founded Sugar in Arezzo in 1978, beginning with a boutique that grew into a well-known concept store.

Sugar brought together fashion, accessories, art and design, and moved to the historic Palazzo Lambardi in 2018.

Angiolini helped make Arezzo a meeting point for fashion and creativity, while working with designers, brands and other professionals.

He also led Italy’s Camera Buyer association and later became its honorary president.

His work shaped how buyers are recognised in Italian fashion, including as people who help identify talent and connect designers with customers.

Funeral arrangements had not yet been announced.
