Real Betis makes first contact over Mauro Icardi transfer

Real Betis has made first contact with Mauro Icardi’s agent about a possible transfer.

The 33-year-old Argentina striker is a free agent after leaving Galatasaray in Turkey.

Betis wants to strengthen its attack at the request of coach Manuel Pellegrini.

Icardi’s salary demand is the main obstacle, and he would need to accept a significant pay cut to join the Spanish club.

He scored 77 goals in 134 matches for Galatasaray.

Juventus, Tottenham, Everton and Benfica are also reportedly following him.

No agreement has been announced, and the transfer depends on whether the parties can resolve the salary issue.
