Sevilla and Alavés draw 0-0 after Vargas misses penalty

Sevilla and Alavés drew 0-0 in their LaLiga match at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán stadium in Seville.

Sevilla had a chance to take the lead in the first half when the referee awarded a penalty after a foul on Félix Correia.

Vargas took the penalty, but Alavés goalkeeper Sivera saved it.

Sevilla pressed after the break, but could not turn its chances into a goal, while Alavés held on for a point.

The missed penalty left Sevilla without a win despite coach Luis García Plaza saying his team had done enough to deserve one.

The match was part of the 12th round of the league, and García Plaza said Sevilla had 18 points.

After the international break, Sevilla will face local rival Betis, while Alavés is due to play a Copa del Rey match before meeting Deportivo La Coruña in the league.
