Unrest puts Saudi Arabia’s Six Kings Slam in doubt

A deadly attack at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh has raised doubts about the Six Kings Slam tennis event.

The exhibition is scheduled to run from 21 to 24 October at the anb arena in the Saudi capital.

At least 12 people were killed and more than 300 were injured in the airport attack, and operations there were temporarily halted.

Yemen’s Houthis claimed responsibility and warned airlines and passengers not to use Saudi airports.

Organisers have not said whether the tournament will go ahead, move or be rescheduled.

Carlos Alcaraz, Novak Djokovic and Alexander Zverev are among the players expected to take part.

The event is due to begin in just over a week, but several players are still competing at the Shanghai Masters and had planned to travel to Saudi Arabia afterward.
