Turkey's industry minister pitches country to technology investors

Turkey's Industry Minister Mehmet Fatih Kacır urged investors to consider the country as a manufacturing and technology partner at the two-day Bosphorus Summit.

The gathering, organised by the International Cooperation Platform, brought together government representatives, business leaders and investors from different regions.

Kacır said Turkey had expanded its manufacturing, exports and research and development since 2002, and described it as a leading exporter across a broad region after China.

He also pointed to Turkey's plan to build a spaceport in Somalia as part of its effort to develop strategic technologies.

A government programme aims to support $30 billion in investment by 2030 in areas including batteries, electric vehicles, chips, artificial intelligence and robotics.

The summit is intended to explore investment opportunities and strengthen economic ties, with more than 20 business meetings planned during its two days.
