Feijóo signs campaign pledge ahead of Spain’s November 29 election

Alberto Núñez Feijóo signed a campaign pledge in Madrid on Monday, ahead of Spain’s November 29 general election.

The leader of the conservative Popular Party called it a “Contract with Spain” and said it was a personal commitment, not a detailed election programme.

He set out four guiding principles: truth, law, effort and unity, describing them as the basis for a national renewal.

His pledges include building at least one million homes, raising pensions in line with inflation and changing how judges are chosen.

He also said he would seek to reduce irregular immigration, strengthen public services and make the state more efficient.

The pledges outline how he says he would govern if his party wins and he becomes prime minister.
