TVING appoints Kook Tae-ho as chief information security officer

South Korean streaming service TVING appointed Kook Tae-ho as its new security chief.

Kook began the role on October 6 after more than 20 years in information security and privacy work.

He previously held security and privacy leadership roles at Ohouse and Yogiyo, and worked at companies including NCSoft.

His experience includes responding to ransomware, DDoS attacks, insider data leaks and cloud breaches.

The appointment follows a government investigation that confirmed personal information from about 39.54 million TVING accounts was exposed in a May breach.

TVING says Kook will lead efforts to upgrade its security systems and respond to threats earlier, while improving protection for users' personal information.
