ProSiebenSat.1 chief calls for closer cooperation among German media firms
ProSiebenSat.1 CEO Marco Giordani called for German media companies to work more closely as they face competition from international technology platforms.
He said traditional media firms risk losing ground if they try to compete with the large platforms alone.
Giordani pointed to ProSiebenSat.1's partnership with public broadcaster ZDF as one example.
ZDF livestreams are already available on Joyn, and ZDF programmes will be offered free on Joyn from November.
Giordani also said he would seek more partnerships with German companies, but did not name possible partners.
He said established media companies are smaller and have fewer financial resources than their new competitors.
The partnerships are intended to help media firms compete, while private and public broadcasters continue their different roles in Germany's media system.
