Russia seeks expanded shipbuilding cooperation with China

Russia wants to expand its shipbuilding cooperation with China.

Nikolai Patrushev, a Russian presidential aide and Maritime Board chairman, discussed the plans during a visit to Beijing.

He met Ke Jixin, China’s vice-minister of industry and information technology.

The talks covered possible roles for Chinese shipbuilders as technology partners and equipment suppliers.

Those roles would support new Russian shipyard facilities.

The two sides are also looking at joint investment.

The discussions could deepen industrial ties between the countries, but no agreement or next steps were announced.
