Woori Financial and MSCI discuss climate change and AI in finance

Woori Financial Group and MSCI discussed climate change and AI at a meeting in Seoul on Nov.

5.

Woori chair Lim Jong-ryong met Henry Fernandez, MSCI’s chair and CEO, to talk about how these forces affect finance and how financial firms can respond.

Woori says its founding purpose of financing economic and industrial growth now guides its work in productive, inclusive and environmental, social and governance finance.

Woori aims to provide 100 trillion won in ESG finance by 2030, and its cumulative total stood at 67 trillion won at the end of 2025.

Its bank also uses AI in green-finance work and had provided 1.8 trillion won in loans that meet South Korea’s green classification standards by the end of September.

The discussion linked climate action with AI-driven change in finance, as Woori says it will support companies shifting to lower-carbon operations and keep using AI to improve work and productivity.
