Eric Dane’s memoir recounts the first sign of his ALS

Eric Dane first noticed a problem with his right hand while eating sushi with his daughters.

He struggled to use chopsticks, and his hand tingled and his fingers felt numb.

The symptom returned about three weeks later, and he could no longer grip the chopsticks.

Dane initially thought it might be a nerve issue caused by texting, but he later spent nine months seeking answers before he was diagnosed with ALS.

His memoir, My Book of Days, recounts the early signs of his illness as well as his struggles with addiction and his relationship with Rebecca Gayheart.

Dane died at age 53 of ALS earlier this year.

The memoir is scheduled for release on November 3, 2026, giving readers a firsthand account of his life and illness.
