Two arrested after flares land inside Feyenoord stadium

Rotterdam police arrested two people after fireworks were set off outside Feyenoord’s stadium, De Kuip.

The flares landed on the pitch and roof during Feyenoord’s Champions League match against Inter, briefly stopping play in the second half.

Feyenoord lost the match 3-0.

The club has a suspended UEFA punishment linked to earlier incidents, so another breach could put it at risk.

UEFA has already fined Feyenoord this season over supporter incidents at away games against Barcelona and SC Cambuur.

Coach Giovanni van Bronckhorst said he expected the fireworks could bring another fine, but the people arrested have not been identified.

That is of course not right and will probably mean another fine.

I was glad it was not in the crowd, but this is of course something you do not want to see.
