Salman Khan says Maatrubhumi is not anti-China and denies government pressure
Salman Khan says Maatrubhumi was not changed under government pressure after rumours that officials had pushed the filmmakers to rewrite it.
The film, directed by Apoorva Lakhia, is inspired by the 2020–2021 China–India skirmishes and features soldiers from both sides.
Khan says it is about soldiers and the impact of war on their families, not a biopic or a film against China.
He said the story shows difficult circumstances rather than negative forces on either side.
Khan attributed delays to visual-effects work and an injury to co-star Chitrangda Singh.
He also said the film received clearance from India’s Central Board of Film Certification without cuts.
Maatrubhumi is scheduled to open in theatres on December 4.
Salman Khan said his film Maatrubhumi: May War Rest in Peace is not intended to be anti-China.
At its trailer launch in Mumbai on November 6, he denied reports that the Indian government pressured the makers to rewrite the script.

What people are saying
This narrative that we are going against China or that our government has pressured us to change the script or rewrite it…this is all nonsense. It’s not true at all.
We have made a film about soldiers and what they and their families go through. We have shown that side and this side too.
I just wanted a film where there is man-on-man fight.
In war, a bullet reaches its target; it reaches the mother’s heart.
