SNCF announces €400 bonus and higher allowances for staff
SNCF has announced three measures to support employees' purchasing power amid inflation.
About 140,000 staff across several SNCF companies will receive a €400 bonus at the end of November.
From 1 November, allowances for night, Sunday and holiday work will rise by 2% for about 100,000 staff, while mileage payments for work trips in personal vehicles will rise by 5%.
These measures add to payments made earlier this year, including a €250 bonus, a €100 bonus and an average €1,050 in profit-sharing.
SNCF says employees will receive an average of €1,700 in bonuses and profit-sharing in 2026, 30% more on average than in 2025.
Rail unions say these payments do not replace a general pay rise to make up for inflation, which they say is higher than the assumption used in the salary agreement.
Four major unions have called a national strike on Thursday over pay and jobs and are seeking further salary talks.
