ASML reports higher-than-expected profit as chip demand extends to 2030

ASML reported third-quarter profit above expectations as customers signalled strong demand for its chipmaking equipment.

The Dutch company makes lithography machines, which chipmakers use to produce semiconductors.

It is the only company that makes extreme ultraviolet machines, tools used to manufacture the most advanced chips.

ASML said some customers are interested in placing orders for 2029 and 2030, with demand driven mainly by investment in artificial intelligence.

The company said planned supply for 2027 and 2028 will not meet all customer demand, and it is exploring ways to increase production capacity for 2028.

ASML expects full-year sales of 44 billion to 45 billion euros and forecasts fourth-quarter sales above analysts’ expectations.
