Dylan Sprouse says he received just five cents in residuals for The Suite Life

Actor Dylan Sprouse says he received only one residual check for The Suite Life of Zack & Cody, the Disney Channel show he starred in with his twin brother Cole.

He said on his Wildmen podcast that the check was for five cents for a Hannah Montana crossover episode.

The show ran from 2005 to 2008, and Sprouse said he received no other residual payments for it.

Costar Phill Lewis said Disney’s contract treated all episodes filmed in a calendar year as one season, so the cast did not receive pay increases between seasons.

Lewis also said the show aired in many countries and was often repeated, though accounts differ on whether it reached over 90 countries or 80 language translations.

The small payment stands out because the show was widely watched, and Sprouse said it had at one point beaten The Sopranos in ratings.

Sprouse said he remains fond of the cast but does not want a revival; he believes the original show remains available for nostalgic viewers and a new generation.
