China unveils 10 automotive technology trends for 2027
The China Association of Automotive Engineers has released 10 technology trends for China's auto industry in 2027.
They include solid-state batteries reaching pilot production, wider use of integrated vehicle motion controls and small-scale use of large magnesium-alloy body parts.
The list also points to self-driving truck fleets reaching demonstrations involving thousands of vehicles.
The society says the trends reflect closer links between electric and smart vehicle technology, new materials and cross-industry innovation.
China already leads the world in new-energy vehicle production and sales, and its connected-car suppliers are expanding.
To address incompatible data systems between automakers and parts suppliers, an industry project has connected 25 parts companies, with daily data intake peaking above three million records.
The industry plans to expand the data covered by the supply-chain platform to support more digital connections across the sector.
China has unveiled 10 automotive technology trends for 2027, according to the China Society of Automotive Engineers.
The trends include solid-state batteries reaching the pilot-production stage and faster adoption of integrated vehicle motion-control technology.
They also include small-scale use of large magnesium-alloy body castings and demonstrations of truck platoons with advanced autonomous driving at the thousand-vehicle level.
The society’s deputy secretary-general said innovation is increasingly combining intelligent and electric technologies, new materials and structures, and cross-industry collaboration.
A separate automotive supply-chain project has connected 25 parts companies and recorded a peak of more than 3 million data entries in one day.

What people are saying
Innovation in intelligent and connected new-energy vehicles is showing three distinct characteristics.
China’s intelligent connected vehicle sector, especially the intelligent driving field, is undoubtedly an innovation hub.
We are not simply adding functions with whole-vehicle AI; through a central brain, we coordinate all areas of the vehicle.
In terms of efficiency, the response time has gone from several months to just one or two minutes.
