Court leaves Veracruz’s football club disaffiliation unchanged
A federal court upheld the dismissal of Fidel Kuri’s legal challenge to the Mexican football federation’s decision to disaffiliate the Tiburones Rojos de Veracruz.
Kuri, the club’s former owner, had challenged the federation over decisions made in December 2019.
The court did not rule on whether the disaffiliation was right or wrong; it found that this legal route was not suitable for challenging the federation’s decisions.
The 2019 disaffiliation therefore remains unchanged in this case, and the club is still outside professional competitions.
Veracruz has been without professional football for nearly seven years, leaving local fans waiting for a return.
The ruling does not block a future team or franchise in Veracruz, but it does not approve any such plan either.
It settles only Kuri’s challenge in this case and does not resolve his other disputes or establish what happens next for the club.
