Bank of America expands transaction banking to mid-sized firms in Spain

Bank of America is offering transaction-banking services in Spain to companies with annual revenue below €2 billion.

Until now, it mainly served businesses above that revenue threshold through this part of its business.

The services help companies manage payments, collections, cash and treasury operations, including payroll and accounts in different countries.

The bank is entering a market where Spanish banks such as Santander and BBVA compete alongside international lenders including Citi, JPMorgan, BNP Paribas and Deutsche Bank.

The expansion is part of a growth plan for its Global Payments Solutions division, which reported $3 billion in global revenue in the third quarter, equal to 10% of the bank’s revenue for that period.

Bank of America is rolling out the broader approach across European markets and has added staff in Spain and other countries to support it.
