1980 Westworld Sequel Series Was Canceled After Three Episodes
CBS aired Beyond Westworld in 1980, decades before HBO made its Westworld series.
The show was a sequel to the 1973 film, about a futuristic theme park where malfunctioning robots turned on human guests.
Jim McMullan played security chief John Moore, who tried to stop a rogue scientist from using robots to take over the world.
CBS made five episodes but canceled the series after airing three.
McMullan later said rushed scripts left little time to develop the stories and characters, while production costs and falling ratings also hurt the show.
The series was nominated for two Emmy Awards, for makeup and art direction, but it did not win either award.

What people are saying
It was like asking someone to deliver a weekly show like 'Mission: Impossible' and not give much time to write these intricate scripts
They could have been wonderful. We were very disappointed because each time we would get a new script, we were rushing to get it finished. So, we ended up with all this junk and you could feel each show was a little worse than the last one. We tried hard.
