Casey Jarvis leads in South Korea as Race to Dubai battle tightens
South African golfer Casey Jarvis leads the Genesis Championship in Cheonan, South Korea, after shooting six under par in the first round.
He is fourth in the season-long Race to Dubai standings, behind Eugenio Chacarra, Patrick Reed and Rory McIlroy.
Chacarra took the rankings lead with his win in India last week, but he opened with a three-over 72 and was tied for 53rd.
Jarvis has already won the Kenya Open and South African Open Championship this season, then finished second at the Joburg Open.
A top-two finish could move Jarvis above McIlroy in the standings, while a win could put him above Reed.
The season-ending play-offs bring a sharp increase in ranking points, so the title will be decided in Abu Dhabi and Dubai.
Jarvis needs to maintain his form in South Korea to strengthen his position before those final two events.
