Drone attacks kill three children in Khartoum and dozens in Kordofan

A drone attack killed three children in Imtidad Nasser, a neighbourhood in Sudan’s capital, Khartoum.

The children were aged two, four and six, and a rights group blamed the attack on the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces, or RSF.

Sudan’s military and the RSF have been at war since 2023, when fighting erupted in Khartoum and spread across the country.

In separate drone strikes over the weekend, the military reportedly killed dozens of civilians in West Kordofan, including women and children.

The group Emergency Lawyers condemned the attacks and said they should be investigated, while the RSF had not commented on the strike in Khartoum.

The conflict has displaced about 13 million people, and the United Nations says 33.7 million people in Sudan need aid this year.

The United States has urged the U.N. Security Council to push for a humanitarian truce and broaden an arms embargo, but China and Russia opposed expanding the embargo.
