Nike Apex racing shoe set for January 2027 release at $360
Nike has announced the Apex, a new elite road-racing shoe designed for marathon runners.
The shoe has a foam midsole, a carbon-fiber plate and four Zoom Air units in its forefoot, twice as many as the Alphafly 4.
Its zero-drop platform measures 40mm at both heel and forefoot, the maximum stack height allowed under World Athletics rules.
Nike says the design can return up to 40% more energy than the Alphafly 3, though that is the company’s claim.
The Apex weighs 5.9 ounces in a men’s size 10 and costs $360, and Nike says it is designed to last at least 100 kilometers.
Third-place finishers in both the men’s and women’s Chicago Marathon wore the shoe.
It goes on sale January 7, 2027, while the Alphafly 4 is scheduled to go on sale October 29.
