More than 21,000 bottles of blood pressure medicine recalled

More than 21,000 bottles of a blood pressure medicine were recalled nationwide because they may contain too much telmisartan.

The medicine combines telmisartan 40 mg and amlodipine 5 mg, and was sold by prescription in 30-count bottles from Mylan Pharmaceuticals.

Five lots are affected: 3228113, 3228114 and 3228115, expiring October 31, 2026, and 3228120 and 3228121, expiring November 30, 2026.

The FDA classified the voluntary recall as Class III, meaning use of the medicine is not likely to cause adverse health consequences.

Check the lot number and expiry date on your prescription bottle to see if it is included.

If it is, stop taking it and contact your doctor or pharmacist; a pharmacy may offer a refund.

People with questions can contact the FDA by phone.
